Leaving the House Feels So Hard
We’ve all been there.
You’re ready.
Nappy bag packed, shoes on.
You’ve thought through everything you might need.
And then something shifts.
It suddenly feels like too much.
Leaving the house with a baby can feel simple in theory,
but in reality, it can feel heavy.
Overwhelming in a way that’s hard to explain.
It’s not just about getting out of the door.
It’s the mental load.
The timing.
The “what if they cry?” and “what if I can’t settle them?”
The feeling of being seen when everything already feels a bit fragile.
You might find yourself standing there, ready to go,
and then sitting back down again.
Telling yourself you’ll try later.
Or tomorrow.
And that’s ok.
Because this isn’t about capability.
It’s not that you can’t do it.
It’s that you’re adjusting.
To a new rhythm.
A new way of being in the world.
Everything takes a little more energy right now.
A little more thought.
A little more courage.
Some days, leaving the house will feel easy.
Other days, it won’t happen at all.
Both are completely normal.
Start small if you need to.
A short walk.
A quick trip.
Or simply opening the door and standing outside for a moment.
There’s no right pace.
You’re not behind.
You’re not doing anything wrong.
You’re just finding your way,
one step at a time.
What would it feel like to leave the house without the pressure to get it “right”?
